- What: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the flight trial of the indigenous High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) "Abhyas" from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.

- Abhyas is designed and developed by DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Bengaluru.
- It offers a realistic threat scenario for practice of weapon systems, particularly surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles.
- It is powered by a small gas turbine engine and uses an indigenous micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) based navigation system for fully autonomous flight.
