      • Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh as the 29th (now 28th) state of India following the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 in Parliament.

    • What: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the flight trial of the indigenous High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) "Abhyas" from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.
    • Details:
      • Abhyas is designed and developed by DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Bengaluru.
      • It offers a realistic threat scenario for practice of weapon systems, particularly surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles.
      • It is powered by a small gas turbine engine and uses an indigenous micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) based navigation system for fully autonomous flight.
